A little Journal Entry In The Big Technology World
The reviews journal are available both in Thai And English language/บทความมีทั้งภาษาไทยและอังกฤษ

I’ve been using the Realme 5i for 4 years, and it’s held up remarkably well. Let me share why.

Greetings! I am EvolGarlic, and I present to you the journal entry for the Tech And Gadgets Journal Entry website.

My hands is kinda strange, when using smartphone, it will reliable and tough as heck, I remember that I once drop my brick that also known as the Nokia Asha 202 on the toilet, it was filled with water, but I put it in the rice and it was saved, I once dropped my Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime from the balcony of my high school, the fall was between half metres (or the length of my two legs) at first I thought it would break, but as it turns out, it was not, the screen still looks good.

And when I had to buy a new smartphone, I thought that would be a long years of use to expect, but I didn’t expect it to be this long, four years long, with a Realme.

Hi EvolGarlic here, from the Tech And Gadgets Journal Entry website, that was the intro, sorry for a gibberish intro, because I never done a kind of storytelling with the tech content before (in English) so here’s the story of the Realme 5i, the smartphone that I use from the year of 2020 till this day, here’s all the quirks, cons and the story of how this phone is handle my task and a lot of applications that I didn’t use to, but downloaded it anyway :

Before I buy the Realme 5i, I was a Samsung user, a J2 Prime to be exact, buy it in the November 2016 when I was grade 4 in high school, the price was between 4,500 baht, which at that time was kinda expensive and advance in my eyes, with a 1.5 GB RAM and a 8 GB ROM, it was a lot of ROM and RAM for my smartphone, the first 1 years use was a joy and a happy time, smooth and you can enjoy many apps on it like a Facebook lite, YouTube, Twitter and more, the camera is also a very good camera, capable of taking a well done photo.

But as the good things are considered, there are a few cons, for example, a lagging motion that freezes the whole thing, which usually can be solved by removing the battery from the back and putting it back, restarting the thing. The battery problem, like once your phone tells you that the battery is now 20%, a minute later is 19% then 18 17 16 till the battery is zero and closes itself. And the glitch of pressing the menu button by itself, and pressing the rapid, so rapidly that you cannot use the app, which I solved with an application.

But despite the hiccups of this phone, this phone survived a drop, survived a rain and Storm with me and graduated with me when I graduated from my high school in 2019 and into the 2020.

But the three years use does damage this phone inside the system, in the beginning of February 2020 this phone has seen a better days, a hardware glitch of pressing the menu button by itself that eventually makes it useless to use, so it was a time to say goodbye to the J2, and buy a new one.

After the search for the next smartphone, I had decided to go for a Realme 5i, a new brand of smartphone which I had never heard of before at that time, and the cost of curiosity is 5,000 baht (138 dollars).

The first day of using it, I admire the design and the performance of it, the design is beautiful as a duck and the performance is pretty quick, snapping quickly.

And as a tradition of my use of the smartphone, I ended up downloading apps that I did not use and the apps I have to use like Instagram. It was a traditional thing, but accidentally also a test of 5i.

From Facebook, TikTok, Twitter (X) YouTube and etc etc, the realme 5i can handle it, and also the gaming as well, as I used to ace the PUBG (with the lowest graphics settings to give the phone a chance) which is smooth and crisp as well, as well as the Call of Duty Mobile, which I also set the graphics to give it a chance, because I know that the ton of apps is press the phone performance, the action of the call of duty mobile is also smooth but not much, lag at some point but not often, so I can ace it at the battle Royale matches, which once someone drive the tank and approach me, I was not impressed with game, because eventually I got boom!

Even the Apex Mobile which is also smooth but not much, the experience still worth it, until it shuts down.

That’s all of the gaming games, but how about the battery life and the camera?

Well, with the 5000mah, it was a upgrade from the 2600mah, but it have a con, I can’t remove the back cover of the Realme 5i, but the upgrade battery capacity was a good choice, the longest time I had with this phone was nearly 8-9 hours on the bus, and changed it is also a joy to do, because it is very fast ro change up, as I mentioned it in the Essager Changer(read it in the website) but it is dependent on the changer you have.

Realme 5i has a good to handle camera spec, with the 12 MP: Wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels, and 10x digital zoom
8 MP: Ultra-wide camera with an f/2.3 aperture and a 119° field-of-view
2 MP: Macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a 4 cm shooting distance
2 MP: Depth sensor
The Realme 5i also has an 8 MP front camera. The camera features include:
Panorama
HDR
Dual-LED flash
AI HDR
AI beauty
AI scene recognition
Chroma boost
Super nightscape. All of this is beautiful and enough to take a well done photo, or the good morning views on the balcony in the morning.

As the time went by, this phone was handled well, until I dropped it on the cement floor, it was at the temple where I was taking photo. The damage was light, a little bit of screen cracks, but that drop was the start of the many drops to come that would damage my phone.

The damage is devastating to my screen, a crack in the screen that doesn’t look big but has damaged the screen inside, it has a big black spot that appears in the screen, permanently there to make it hard to view the video or play game.

I even make NFTs on this phone, which went well for nearly two years before I couldn’t do it anymore, but at least I have acquired myea digital art skills.

At first I was going to change the screen which cost between 1,500 baht, but I realised that I am broke, so I keep using it, because it is still usable.

The fun thing to this is, I used to type my articles on the computer, but unfortunately it broke down in 2020 or 2021, because the pc was 10 years old and can’t handle the new stuff, so unfortunately I have to type it on the Realme 5i, which is better than no typing at all, this article is type on the Realme 5i.

To sum up the realme 5i is, it was enough for your typical social media app and a little bit of content creation. Can handle a big graphics game like PUBG, The camera is good, but the zoomed photo is kinda grainy, but despite that, it is the perfect smartphone to keep you company.
